Medications and medical supplies continue to be essential for the hospital’s work. Several congregations ship needed medicines and supplies which they obtain at low cost from stateside organizations or local health facilities who donate to mission efforts. Funding and pledges designated for medication purchase are always needed. The Medical Director and recent visitor reports tell us that the hospital pharmacy stock is very low, and some essential medications are unavailable.
The repair team from Orchard Park PC experienced difficulty this past summer in restoring the Toyota Land Cruiser and the “deuce” army truck to service. Critical parts needs exceeded our ability to pay for them. We need contributions to repay a generous emergency loan of $4500, and need to establish a reserve fund dedicated to repair and maintenance of the hospital vehicles. Will you consider contributions to such a fund? Dental care in the Mombin Crochu region is essentially non-existent. The hospital needs to expand its treatment capabilities by establishing a dental clinic. We will need equipment and instruments, and some US dentists on short-term mission to set up the facility so that a Haitian dentist may be obtained for the hospital staff. This should be our next building project. |

Missionaries

As soon as is possible, we need to send medical, surgical, dental and building and systems support teams to the hospital on missions of health caring, repairs, maintenance and teaching.
The presence of a new Haitian government offers us renewed hope for security within the country. Seek God’s call to put together plans and people for a team mission. Ask the Covenant Hospital Network or MBF for assistance in reaching out in this way. |

Medications and some equipment are in short supply, and the hospital is serving increasing numbers of sick patients. |

Money

Money. The “M” word. As the evolving story of the vision for Covenant Hospital shows, mission
With our Episcopal partners, we have put together a 2006 budget of $104,000 ($285/day) for our responsibilities in the health plan, an amount which actually is less than the previous hospital operating cost. We have put in place some new agreements and processes with the Episcopal Diocese which will make sharing of financial information more efficient. Covenant Hospital and its ministry need financial support! This includes both designated gifts sent to MBF now and for congregations who will plan commitment to long-term support of the mission. Unless we are able to contribute and stabilize our share of needed annual finances, the hospital doors will not be able to stay open for the sick and hurt, and the caring outreach of mission teams will not be possible. |

Please work to more deeply engage your congregation in the continuing vision for God’s healing work at Covenant Hospital. Together let us step forward to stand beside our partners and our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ.
